Personal:
When not at the office, you can find Michael spending time with his wife and son. On rare occasions you may find him snowboarding, participating in crossfit competitions or playing golf.
Education & Bar Admissions:
Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from Willamette University and he received his law degree from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College.
While attending law school, Michael successfully competed in mock trial and trial advocacy competitions. He also volunteered to teach a high school class on civics and law at Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon. During his first two years of law school, Michael clerked with Juvenile Rights Project, representing juveniles in dependency and delinquency matters. During his last year, he worked as a summer clerk for Cosgrave.
Law Practice:
Michael Mangan's practice focuses on all aspects of business and real estate law including litigation, transactional work, real estate tax appeals and exemptions, and real estate professional liability cases.
His transactional work includes advising clients with their real estate ownership, investment and development needs, as well as representing privately held businesses and medical practitioners in business formation, shareholder and employment agreements, the purchase, sale or transition of their business, and the lease or purchase of the real or personal property associated with those businesses.
His litigation work includes helping clients in contract disputes, representing commercial property owners in disputes with tenants, and defending professionals in liability cases and complaints to licensing boards.
Prior to entering practice, Michael was a commercial real estate appraiser. For nearly a decade, he specialized in complex business and real estate consultation and valuation projects. Michael appraised several high profile publicly owned properties, including the former Medical Examiner's Building on NE Knott Street, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office on NE Glisan Street and Edgefield North, a 250-plus acre site and county jail adjacent to McMenamin's Edgefield.
