Cosgrave is excited to introduce Joseph M. Arzt as this year’s summer law clerk. Joseph is a rising 3L at Lewis & Clark Law School with a background working in civil defense. Joseph received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy & studio art in 2015 from Lewis & Clark College. At Lewis & Clark Law School, he serves as an article editor for the Lewis & Clark Law Review.

“After finishing my undergraduate degree, I immediately started working in law firms here in Oregon. In my years working at those firms, I quickly learned that the Portland legal community was a community I wanted to be involved in. When looking at potential opportunities for the summer, a firm with as deep a local connection and history as Cosgrave seemed like the perfect fit.”

Cosgrave’s ten-week program is designed to expose second-year law students to the breadth of the firm’s practice areas and the depth of our lawyers’ knowledge. By providing challenging projects, practical training, and the chance to work and socialize with many of our lawyers, we give law clerks the experience needed to make an informed decision about their future legal careers.

We are now accepting applications for next summer’s law clerk position. We conduct on-campus interviews at Lewis & Clark and University of Oregon law schools during the recruiting season. Please arrange an on-campus interview through your law school career center. If we do not schedule a campus interview at your school, you can apply by submitting the following information:

  • Cover letter
  • Resume
  • Writing sample (at least five pages)
  • Law school transcript
