Law Practice
As an attorney, Dan Peterson has extensive experience protecting creditor’s rights and pursuing their remedies, both inside and outside Oregon Bankruptcy Court. His practice includes commercial, business and real estate litigation. He has been in private practice since 2006 and previously was a law clerk with the Trial Division of the Oregon Department of Justice.

Representative Cases
- Represented homeowners in property line dispute with neighbor. Multi-day trial to the court resulted in judgment in clients favor, awarding them title to a disputed strip of property through adverse possession.
- Represented Oregon pet products manufacturer and individual principals against a $3.2 million lawsuit alleging misappropriation of trade secrets, tortious interference with business relations, conversion, fraud, successor liability, and unjust enrichment. Briefed and presented a series of motions and successfully resolved the lawsuit through negotiated settlement under which clients were not required to provide any monetary compensation to plaintiff.
- Represented limited liability company member in seven figure action against managing member for fraud, mismanagement, and usurpation of corporate opportunity. Five day arbitration hearing before three arbitrator panel resulted in judgment for client for full amount of demand.
- Represented secured creditor in lawsuit against debtor alleging breach of contract and unjust enrichment. Briefed, argued, and obtained temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction prohibiting debtor from spending, distributing, or otherwise transferring proceeds from secured creditor’s collateral. Negotiated favorable settlement shortly after the Court issued preliminary injunction.
Education & Bar Admissions
Dan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin in 1997. He earned his law degree from the University of Oregon in 2006. While in law school, Dan was Staff Editor (2004-2005) and Articles Editor (2005-2006) for the Oregon Law Review, was member of the Moot Court Board and tutored first-year students in Contracts and Torts.
Dan was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 2006 and the United States District Court of Oregon and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Oregon in 2007.
Professional
Dan is a member of the Business Litigation and Debtor-Creditor sections of the Oregon State Bar Association and the Multnomah County Bar Association. Dan is also a member of the race committee for the St. Andrew Legal Clinic’s – Race For Justice.
Personal
Outside of the office, Dan enjoys exploring Oregon’s mountains, rivers and beaches. He also enjoys running (2016 Boston Marathon Finisher), playing golf, and spending time this his wife Heather and their kids Soren and Stella.
